Map: Valdov

Southeast of Nova Paka is the village of Valdov, which had a Czech population at the time of settlement. It partially belonged to Nova Ves and Chotec, and after 1503 it was a part of the Pecka demesne for some time. The local parishioners belonged to the Chotec vicarage, which dated back to 1393.

In 1545, the village was united. Mikulas Kule of Chotec was among the most powerful men of Chotec in the latter half of the 16th century. On 6th July 1592, Eliska Hofmanova of Donin in Grabstejn and Rohozec bought a part of the demesne and two years later transferred it to her brother, Karel of Donin. After her death in 1611, her husband became the landlord. The next was David of Cernhauz, from whom the demesne was bought by Albrecht of Valdstejn in 1624. It belonged to the church order of the Servites before it was acquired by Rudolf of Tiefenbach in Chotec in 1644.

At that time, the parishioners belonged to Nova Paka, but it seems that burials continued in Chotec probably until the graveyard in Valdov was established. When the Pauline order was dismissed, Valdov continued to be administered from the church in Nova Paka. After 1807, it was assigned back to Chotec again. Two sculptures are clearly visible when passing through the village on the road. At the edge of the village, near the road from Hridelec, a tormentory crucifix can be seen as a typical rural Baroque work. In the middle of the village is a stone crucifi x from 1809. Some well–preserved buildings, both bricked and timbered, can be seen in the village.
